Heating Cycle Rate Auxiliary Heat. Heat Cycle Diagram Every heating system type will deliver heat to the house at a slightly different rate What does everyone recommend for this setting on Honeywell thermostats with a heat pump and heat strip electric backups for aux? Honeywell recommends 9 in the manual but curious if a lower setting is better/more efficient as 9 seems high

I can see the argument made both ways that if it were at a setting of 9, it would give quick bursts of aux heat until it's the temp is within the range of. The heat pump has 1 compressor stage and 1 auxiliary heat stage (electric heat strips)

These cycle settings don't kick in until the system starts achieving setpoint, so don't worry if it will shut off if it's set to 70° in heat mode and it's 60° in the house. How the Symbiont GeoThermal Heat Pump works Symbiont Service. Some thermostats provide you with the flexibility to set the cycle rate to match your specific heating system, whether it is forced air, high efficiency forced air, electric forced air, or baseboard hot. is turning on auxiliary for normal heating operation (no setback) and temperature outside right now is 40 degrees
